Veterinary Assistance Needed with Cruelty/Neglect Cases The IVMA maintains a list of veterinarians around the state who are willing to assist law enforcement during animal cruelty cases. We would like to update and add veterinarians to the list so that we can make sure the entire state has veterinarians willing to assist in neglect cases. In the event of a case in your area, you may be contact by local law enforcement or the IVMA.If you would be willing to assist, please complete this Google Form. The Iowa Veterinary Medical Association is a corporation governed by Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws. The Articles of Incorporation can be amended by the vote of two-thirds of the members of the Corporation present and voting at any Annual Meeting. A summary of the major changes can be found here. The amendments have been reviewed by IVMA legal counsel and approved by the Executive Board. A vote will take place at the Annual Meeting of the Corporation at lunch on Thursday, September 29 at the IVMA Annual Meeting in Ames
Public Comments Sought The Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine is seeking comments to an Administrative Rule pertaining to the clarification of the veterinarian/client/patient relationship (VCPR). The IBVM is requesting public comment on ARC 6403C. The deadline for public comment is 4:30 pm on August 2, 2022.Read ARC 6403C and instructions for making comments here. Veterinarians Required to Obtain Informed Consent from Clients Making sure that the client knows exactly what tests will be performed, what treatment options are available and what costs and risks are involved in the care of their animals is vital to maintaining a good client relationship and reducing future disagreements. NEW Member Assistance Program (MAP) Offered The IVMA is excited to announce a new benefit for IVMA members and their immediate families. Beginning on March 1, a Member Assistance Program (MAP) will be available at no charge to IVMA members and their families. The MAP offers help for personal and/or professional concerns by providing free, confidential, short-term counseling and personal consultation.
