8:00 – 10:00 a.m. S.O.S. – Saving Ourselves So We Can Save Others - Dr. Heidi Hulon
What about our profession sets us up for Compassion Fatigue?  And is it really Compassion Fatigue or something else?  This discussion covers what about ourselves puts us at risk for being empathetic and also, empathetically exhausted.  The risk factors, clinical signs and treatment for this affliction are discussed.  In order to protect ourselves and those that we work with, we must understand, accept and address all that comes with the veterinary profession.

10:30 – 11:30 a.m.  Staying Connected: The Pillars for a Balanced & Healthy Life - Dr. Don Broshar, Dr. Heidi Hulon, Dr. Tara Miller, Dr. Chris Mondak
This session will be a facilitated conversation about four pillars leading to a balanced & healthy life. The facilitator will share four pillars & engage the participants in a discussion as to how these pillars impact the participant’s life. Together the participants will identify strategies for staying connected in order to live a balanced & healthy life.

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Stress in the Clinic:  How to Help Each Other - Dr. David Brown
Working in a veterinary clinic is stressful: Clients who are irritable, financially challenged or just depressed. How can you offer hope to clients and others who are under such stress? You will review risk and protective factors and warning signs of suicide, as well as strategies to intervene.

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Strategies That Help - Dr. David Brown
In this program, individuals will review the signs of stress, learn strategies to cope with stress, examine ways to help others, and review available resources.
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Why Fight the Waves When You Can Learn How to Surf? - Ms. Lauren Wright
We often find ourselves fighting the waves of stress in life only to find it can be a cycle of frustration. This session will focus on effective ways of responding to work and general life stress without the fight. How to ACT in a way that leads to a fulfilled life and career.
