Session Description:
- When should I prescribe pimobendan (Vetmedin)?
- Pimobendan (Vetmedin) is a commonly prescribed and widely advertised drug in veterinary cardiology. This session will discuss when pimobendan should be prescribed (which heart diseases and which stage of disease) in small animals, based on clinical trials and consensus recommendations.
- Cardiomyopathy associated with boutique, exotic-ingredient, or grain-free diets
- In 2018, the FDA announced concerns for a relationship between cardiomyopathy and grain-free diets in dogs, which has led to widespread concern and confusion among the veterinary community and dog owners. This session traces the roots of this issue and provides an evidence-based update of our current understanding and best practices.
