Officers
William Williams, DVM
President

Dr. William (Bill) Williams graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at theUniversity of Missouri in 1995 and has practiced in the Des Moines area since that time. He is a member of the AVMA and AAHA and has been a regular speaker in companion animal ethics at Iowa State’s CVM. He and his wife Amanda have two children. His interests outside of professional life include golfing, fishing, cooking and doing what he can to be a good husband and father.


Jodie Pettit, DVM
President Elect

Dr. Jodie Pettit received her DVM from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She has attended the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Conference, is Vice President of the SW Iowa VMA and the Audubon FFA Alumni. Dr. Pettit is a member of the AVMA, AASV, AAEP, SFT, ARV, VMAA, IFBF, the IVMA Equine Committee, the Timber Creek Charities Board and the ISU VDPAM Advisory Board. Her hobbies include horseback riding, hunting, reading, traveling and enjoying the outdoors.


Hans Koehnk, DVM
Vice President

Dr. Hans Koehnk is a native Iowan and Cyclone, having grown up only 20 minutes from Ames. After completing a Bachelor’s degree at University of Northern Iowa, he attended Veterinary School at Iowa State University where he graduated with the class of 2000. After graduation, he practiced for one year in Eden Prairie, Minnesota before migrating back to Jewell, Iowa. Since that time, Dr. Koehnk has worked in food animal practice and diagnostics, as well as serving as a Technical Services Veterinarian for ARKO Laboratories over the past ten years.
 
Dr. Koehnk’s professional activities include membership in the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and American Association of Swine Veterinarians. He has served as Alternate Delegate and Delegate to the AVMA for the past seven years and has served on various committees and task forces within the IVMA, including the Long Range Planning Committee. Within his community, he has been actively involved in the Jewell Area Development Enterprise, a non-profit organization devoted to improving the local business climate.
 
Dr. Koehnk is married to Darci and they have two children: Tyler, five and Samuel, three. His hobbies include golf, fishing, reading, coaching his son’s tee ball team and being with family.

Teresa Carmichael, DVM
Immediate Past President

Dr. Teresa Carmichael is a partner at Mahaska Veterinary Clinic, a mixed animal practice, in Oskaloosa, Iowa since 1992. She received a B.S. in Animal Science before graduating from Iowa State with her DVM in 1990.

She and her husband Jim are most proud of their three children, Claire, Sam and Alan.  They live on acreage in rural Mahaska County with various assorted critters, most being special needs animals.
