8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Equine Ocular Examination & Corneal Diseases - Dr. Gil Ben-Shlomo

This lecture will cover the basics of equine ocular examination with an emphasis on eye examination in field conditions. Common corneal diseases, interpretation of physical examination findings, diagnosis and treatment will be discussed. Practical tools for diagnosis and management of corneal diseases will be obtained by attending veterinarians.

1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Intrasynovial Injections: Avoiding Complications Recognition & Treatment of Sepsis - Dr. Stephen Adams

This session will cover site preparation, selection of needles and drugs, and injection techniques Methods for recognition and the treatment of sepsis of synovial structures following synovial injections and sepsis from other causes will be discussed. Selected injection techniques for injecting joints and bursas will be shown.

3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Lameness Diagnosis in Horses - Dr. Stephen Adams

The first part of this session will be a continuation from session 1. Methods for safely performing injections to reduce injury to the veterinarian and the horse will be presented. Videos of lame horses including many of the classic gaits associated with specific conditions such as stringhalt, momentary upward fixation of the patella will be shown. The session will conclude with presentation of interactive case reports of horses with various soft tissue or orthopedic problems.
