The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University (ISU CVM) has an opening for a resident in the Veterinary Field Services Unit in Ambulatory Medicine within the department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM). This residency position will prepare the individual to become a Dairy or Food Animal Diplomate with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). Emphasis of this position will be on bovine (dairy and beef) with exposure to other food animal species. Species focus will vary depending upon track selected. The person in this position will gain clinical experience while working with faculty providing medical, surgical, and theriogenology services to clients of the ISU Veterinary Field Services unit, ISU Food Animal and Camelid Hospital and the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The person in this position will provide clinical instruction to veterinary students in ambulatory field services (individual and herd/production medicine) including reproductive herd health and in-house food animal medicine and surgery. Responsibilities will include being on-call and providing emergency services. This is a one-year renewable appointment within the two-year residency program to complete board certification requirements. There is an opportunity to concurrently obtain an advanced degree, which extends the program to a three-year program. Veterinary Clinical Toxicology Resident/PhD Graduate Student Wanted. The Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM), College of Veterinary Medicine, Iowa State University has an opening for a veterinarian wishing to pursue a PhD. The program will provide interested veterinarians with a solid, broad base training in clinical veterinary toxicology through course work, coordinating case submissions at the veterinary diagnostic lab, delivering seminars, teaching of veterinary students, and conducting research of high relevance to food animal agriculturists. The goal of the program is to produce well-trained food animal interest veterinary toxicologists that are board eligible (American Board of Veterinary Toxicology and American Board of Toxicology) and market ready to pursue careers in academia, industry or government.  Qualified applicants will have a DVM or equivalent degree in veterinary medicine, demonstrate a desire for a career in veterinary toxicology and have excellent communication skills.
